It was decided that the best way to isolate and capture the effects of coaching on the business was through a questionnaire. This questionnaire had two parts. Part one was completed electronically via email and examined clients initial reaction to coaching, what they learned, how they applied what they learned and captured their initial assessment of business impact. Part two was conducted over the telephone with each respondent and probed more deeply into business impact and the financial return on investment





The target population for the survey was 43 leadership development participants. These participants were drawn from two regions: Eastern United States (37) and Mexico (6). These participants represented a cross section of the business and included those in sales, operations, technology, finance and marketing. All had been identified as potential leaders and executives. Thirty (30) of 43 leadership development participants returned their surveys for a 70% response rate.



Results





Coaching was a very effective developmental tool for the leadership development participants, producing financial and intangible benefits for the business. Coaching sessions were rich learning environments that enabled the learning to be applied to a variety of business situations. Decision-making, team performance and the motivation of others were enhanced. Many of these business applications contributed annualized financial benefits. Three-quarters (77%) of the 30 respondents indicated that coaching had significant or very significant impact on at least one of nine business measures. In-depth discussions were conducted over the telephone with each respondent to further explore the business impact of coaching. Sixty percent of the respondents were able to identify specific financial benefits that came as a result of their coaching.





Overall, productivity (60% favorable) and employee satisfaction (53%) were cited as the most significantly impacted by the coaching. Respondents defined productivity in this context as relating to their personal or to their work group productivity and half (50%) documented annualized financial benefits. Employee satisfaction was viewed both in terms of the respondents being personally more satisfied as a result of the coaching as well as the being able to increase the employee satisfaction of their team members. The respondents could not quantify this benefit in financial terms. Employee satisfaction, then, was a significant source of intangible benefits. Customer satisfaction (53%) was also a significant source of intangible benefits.





The next most frequently cited as being significantly impacted by coaching were work output (30%) and work quality (40%). Twenty percent of the respondents identified financial benefits as a result of increased work output. Many respondents reported improvements in work quality, however, they were not able to quantify these improvements in terms of dollar benefits. Work quality improvements were considered an intangible benefit of the coaching.





Program costs were tabulated for all 43 leadership development participants in determining the return on investment. Overall, the coaching process produced a 788% return on investment. Given the client company"s downsizing activities and the general state of the telecommunications industry, the client was reticent to fully factor in the financial benefits from retention. Excluding the benefits from employee retention, a 529% return on investment was produced. While those clients who had customer or people responsibilities produced proportionally greater financial benefits, the realization of benefits to the business was fairly widespread throughout the group involved in this study.





Recommendations were made to maximize the business benefits from executive coaching:

Power To Influence As A Life Coach




Im intending to write on the nature of power in this article. Specifically, the power of influence. How do you influence another human being? I am a life coach, and this inquiry has resulted from me trying to attract clients and attempting to influence people to transform their lives. In the past, my results were often futile and frustrating. I would labor for hours and years trying to get people to buy from me in previous businesses. I would try to get people to do what I wanted, but it seldom worked. At the end of it, I was broke, both financially and spiritually.





I no longer believed in myself. I felt like I had no power at all. I was hopeless. I knew that nothing I could do would ever work. Why did so many other people have so much more power than I did? Why couldnt I attract clients? I couldnt force them at gunpoint to do what I wanted.





So I embarked on a journey to get power. My own power. I knew I must have had some power somewhere inside, and I was determined to get to it. The way I cultivated my power was learning to trust myself bit by bit. Trusting the still voice inside me. The small voice. The voice that lies underneath the blasting fear and the reverberating voices from others. The still voice inside me always knew what was right. And when I trusted that voice, heeded that voice, and acted upon that voice, I always had limitless power. Whenever I was too afraid to heed it or thought I should do something different, I always lost my power.





Power is truth. Truth is power. The still voice inside was the voice of truth. The voice of power. That voice has never let me down. At times, holding onto that voice scared me to death, destroyed my plans and crumbled my reality. Many times over. I had to learn to let go of everything I thought my life was and every bit of who I was. At times Ive felt like the craziest person in the world listening to my voice. That voice has taken me out of my past, out of the loser I thought I was and back to reclaim my power.





That voice has gone against some important people in my life and some strong influences. That voice went against the life path I had set out for myself in being an engineer. That voice caused me to marry a girl that otherwise I never would have given the chance. That voice caused me to believe in myself bit by bit, as much as I could implement without being overwhelmed.





That voice is what has caused me to become a successful life coach today. That voice is the voice of influence. Not only does it influence me, but just the act alone of following the voice is the very thing that influences others. It influences others indirectly by witnessing my actions. And the voice influences them directly by the actions it urges me to take to contribute to those around me.





I wouldve stayed being an engineer. I didnt need or want all this extra work. I didnt want to overcome the massive fear I felt with sales, business and my own confidence. I couldve earned all the money I needed as an engineer. But I had to follow the voice. I do what I do because Im following the voice.





And right now the voice is teaching me about influence. And influencing others comes by embracing the voice you have. Think of Paul Potts who got up to sing on Britains Got Talent. He was just heeding the voice inside him, literally. Think of the influence hes had on the world and the inspiration hes caused in others inadvertently just by following his voice.





Why is the voice the source of all influence? Because the voice is truth. Truth is power. And power is love. All these things are synonymous. And love is the ultimate influence there is. With force or hate, you can only twist someone elses arm against his will. With love, they rush to do whatever you inspire them and they carry it to others. Force requires guns, armies, money, media and propaganda. Love requires nothing. Just more love.





With penetrating love, you powerfully influence people and inspire them to do what you want. And what you want if you come from a place of love is for them to be happy and to do what they love and to inspire them to do so. Thats all the voice really says. The voice just tells us how to love and serve humanity. The voice continues to call us to do so. And thats what influence is.





So if you want to be a successful life coach or successful in sales or influencing others, then just remember to follow the voice and to follow the infinite love inside you.

So why do I need to hire a coach at all?



There is no need (in our age of easy, quick and affordable communication) to waste your valuable training hours on wrong or simply uninformed training, when there is a wealth of very good coaching information available. If you are currently self-coached, a good coach will help simplify and structure your life. Through constant feedback and support they will take care of your training and the details of your program in order to maximize your performance from the limited time you have available, freeing you up to concentrate simply on the enjoyable bit, the actual training.

There is of course a plethora of options out there at incredibly varying prices. Fundamentally you need to consider what services and programs a coach can offer and is what they can offer suitable to your level, lifestyle and budget at this point in time.





What makes a good coach?



A coach should be more than an IT wiz who uploads snazzy looking weekly training programs, or someone who stands at the side of the track or pool timing and counting laps. They should be someone who is passionate about what they do and why they do it, a professional who is comfortable wearing many hats: training partner, teacher, mentor, role model, technician, facilitator, and without doubt someone you can identify as a friend, someone who you can effectively communicate with. The relationship between a coach and their athletes should be open and two way.





A good coach is often an experienced, knowledgeable and balanced individual, who naturally commands respect, so while formal coaching certifications and/or personal athletic achievement can be excellent qualities in a coach they do not automatically make an excellent coach. A coach, who has continually worked with different levels of athlete across the different disciplines over the years, has pooled more experience and knowledge and should be better informed to bring out the best in you as an individual. They will need to ask for key information about your past and current fitness levels, racing history, future goals, plus a lifestyle audit to enable them to design a program specific to your needs.





A dedicated coach needs to have empathy and compassion, and understand what it is like to be an athlete (although not necessarily be a current or former professional athlete), but also be capable of applying the science and appreciating that each athlete is an individual, who responds differently to varying approaches. They coach each athlete as an individual and are creative, knowing how to keep a training program interesting and enjoyable and how to integrate it into the life constraints of the athlete. This should be reflected in their enthusiasm for the sport and for coaching.





So how do you find the right coach for you?



Ultimately, you are looking to build a relationship over time with this person, so it is important that your coach possess many of these qualities, plus others too that you may feel you need from a coach. Can you talk to them and get sound advice when you need it? Do they offer camps where you can get individual attention at an affordable price? Do you share similar values and philosophies as?





How much should it cost?



A good coach should happily put you in contact with athletes whom he is/has coached and/or provide references from coached athletes. Remember you are paying for a service and just like any other service you want to ensure that you are getting a good deal. So whatever the cost, ask yourself quite simply does it represent good value for money?


How to Coach Indoor Soccer




Indoor soccer is a sport that is fast catching the fancy of the commercial public, but playing soccer indoors has been around for decades now. All the top soccer players in the world today have played indoor soccer at some stage or the other, and they also train and hone their skills in an indoor soccer arena from time to time. The basic rules are the same as regular soccer, the only difference being the number of players per side and the lack of the ball going out-of-bounds at the sides of the arena.





In some quarters it is also known as Futsal and there are many countries where official Futsal tournaments are held. The dynamics of the game change when it is played indoors though, so indoor soccer coaching is quite different from regular soccer coaching. Coaches of youth teams also focus a lot on indoor soccer drills and practice matches because playing the sport definitely builds up the technical skills of players.
